---------------
Congrats to Nattamai Bhuvanesh! Nattamai is the winner of the prestigious 2025 Bruker Diamond Challenge

The challenge was to collect and refine the structure of diamond (a notoriously difficult crystal structure).   From all of the samples submitted Nattamai's crystal structure was deemed the best.  Nattamai beat out all other competitors including synchrotrons and metal jet sources.
"And the Winner Is...
Nattamai Bhuvanesh. The top dataset, collected with an Ag microfocus source and Dectris Eiger CdTe detector, scored an impressive 43 points and showed off incredible quality in all areas evaluated. Silver (Ag) source with Eiger CdTe detector - 43 points (100%, 0.294Å, Rpim=0.64%, R1=0.93%, 0.24/-0.19)."
The prize, other than bragging rights (BRAGG) is a 5-carat VVS1 Moissanite.

Mission

Our Mission
The purpose of our laboratory is to provide X-ray diffraction analysis to the Texas A & M University system and to educate our students in the science of Crystallography. Our main focus is to determine molecular structure from single-crystal samples and to perform high resolution X-ray powder diffraction. We provide services to outside users. We are a full service facility, able to determine the three dimensional structure of molecules and solids, from single crystal samples. We can determine various structural types from small inorganic solids to small macromolecules
